As a Brooklyn girl I love the way the city makes me feel. Adventure, mystery, love and magic are possibilities on every block. The female photographers of Etsy capture this spirit perfectly.

love & pretty things ...

Not that i'm biased or anything but if you ask me the ladies of fPOE are some seriously talented photographers not to mention we put together great treasuries. But just look pack over the past few i've blogged & you can see incredible we really are. I say it over & over that one of the things i love about this team is the inspiration you gain just from looking at the work on offer, & that's before you even talk to the members who are here to provide you with everything you could ever need (well almost). In that i mean they are a group always willing to help, to provide advice, & answer questions. Anyways there i was rambling, lets return to the love & pretty on offer here ... to view the actual treasury click on the link ... HERE ... & of course head over to the gorgeous shop belonging to De La Cruz Studios who put this together.

With Darkness, Comes Light

Yes i'm posting about another treasury today ... but then i think you can understand why i had to post this! As you know i've been totally drawn to light, pretty, bright & everything that goes with recently but this one has a whole different kind of WOW factor. It's dark, haunting & a little bit scary. & well yes the photography is absolutely stunning (as usual). Just looking at these images leave me pondering all kinds of questions as to what came next. To check out the amazing images on display click on the link ... HERE ... & of course be sure to check out the wonderfully photography if Tina Crespo who put these items together.

monday morning ...

So there seems to be a theme in the treasuries i'm posting right now ... see the weather here moves between "sucky" & "suckier" (those are more weather dude technical terms) so here i am sharing something that makes me smile, think of spring & prey this horribleness will leave us eventually. Anyways not that i'm biased but this here treasury is full of stunning photography & gorgeous tones. Be sure to click on the link ... HERE ... to check out the actual images & for links to the various shops & of course don't forget to check out the shop belonging to the wonderfully talented lady Magalerie who is one of my all time favourite treasury fairies!

around the world with fPOE ... this week it's Pueblo, Colorado

So after a week's break (things are a little hectic round here you must excuse my missing an occasional week) we are back for a new journey! 2011 has seen us checking out the work of Shannon Blue Photography, in Boulder, Colorado & then heading south to San Antonio, Texas to view the hollywood feel of K. Clark Photography. Well this week we're heading back up north, to Colorado (again), more specifically Pueblo & the gorgeous imagery of Frankie Kins & Bluemoon Studio.

As i looked through Frankie's shop i felt like i had stepped back in time, a long way back in time to the Victorian era. The tones of Bluemoon Studio are very subtle, & warm reminding me of sepia & "ye olden days". There's a stillness in her work, peace & quiet & calm, & this can be seen through her variety of subjects. There's no one thing that stands out, & many of her images remind me of stories i've heard or read, a Charles Dickens Novel or a fairy tale. She brings life to those small moments. & whilst i find Frankie's imagery calming i also notice a haunting quality in it, reminiscent of a ghost story. Not in the evil sense but an unknown presence or energy, something you can feel but don't necessarily see until the shutter clicks.

To really get an understanding of what Frankie Kin is about you have to view all of her work ... she doesn't fit into a box instead she pushes the boundaries & asks questions of the viewer ...

... winter or spring? ...

... natural or artificial? ...

... real or imagination?

All the images you see here can be bought in the Blue Moon Studio etsy shop. You can also view more of Frankie's work on flickr & her blog.

fresh start {picture editor}

Every where the weather seems all out of wack this winter ... from 17 degrees through to 55 (here in germany) you go to sleep in a winter wonderland & wake up to floods! Anyways my world of germany is currently full of ickyness (that by the way is a technical weather dude term) so when i saw this fpoe treasury created by the fabulous Natalie French i decided it needed to be shared. Look at those wonderful, divine, sweet, spring tones! I could easily turn this into a poster & put it on my wall! To view the actual treasury click on the link ... HERE!! have a wonderful day people.

around the world with fPOE ... this week it's San Antonio, Texas

So we managed to hit up a whole bunch of places in 2010 ... & so far in 2011 we've headed to the wonderful city of Boulder, Colorado to check out the pretty pretty of Shannon Blue Photography (yes we are only 1 week into 2011 so gives us a chance ... it was an exhausting Christmas). & now ... finally we are heading south ... virtually in mexico south ... to San Antonio, Texas to check out the inspirational work of K.Clark Photography. As i took a look around Kimberley's shop i'm drawn to her atmospheric images & instantly all in love with her use of shadow & light. The black & white's though out her shop are full of emotion, & feeling, reminders of film noir & old school hollywood. Throw in a little romance & you can imagine the stories that go alongside.

I can't imagine the time Kimberley spends scouting out her locations, exploring them until she understands when that perfect moment is going to occur ... the light falling in such a way as to capture that one perfect moment in time. I can almost see her wandering the streets with an old Rolflex in hand inspired by the street photographers of years gone by. I see so much tradition in her work, simple stunning photography that speaks for itself & could happily survive without the intervention of digital technology.

from the beginning of a horror movie or a tale of aliens ...

... to the moment when we first glimpse the face of our heroine ...

... & yes a a tom & jerry cartoon!

You can purchase all the images you see in this post in Kimberley's etsy shop ... & to further explore more of her work take a look at her flickr page or her blog.

around the world with fPOE ... this week it's Boulder, Colorado

So our wonderful journey with the ladies of fpoe continues ... just a quick recap of the places we've been to so far: West Warwick (RI, USA), Edinburgh (IN, USA), Saline (MI, USA), Los Angeles (CA, USA), Manchester (UK), Naperville (IL, USA),Ottawa (Canada), Sydney (Australia), London, (Canada), Ottawa again (Canada), New Jersey (USA), & finally Chico (CA, USA). That's a whole lot of places, & we've seen all kinds of amazing work covering various genres, styles & all the rest. Personally I'm loving seeing what these fabulous photographers have to offer us but then i am a little biased.

This week is no exception to the rule ... & if anything you're going to experience a little too much pretty! Ok so there's no such thing as too much pretty especially when it comes to pictures but the pretty I'm about to show you is a little overwhelming & honestly i had an incredible difficult time choosing the images i would share because i love them all. So without further ado (a little post Christmas panto speak ... it's an English thing) we're heading to Boulder, Colorado & the stunning photography of Shannon Blue Photography

The first thing i notice when i look at Shannon's work (once we've moved past the pretty) are the tones. I love the subtle, warm, calming tones she brings out in her images especially the gold. There's nothing cold about them, just an incredible warmth that makes you smile & laugh & reminds you of a childhood memory, a place or a time. Especially the gold ... there is lots & lots of golden tones like the sun radiates on everything she photographs. Then there's her choice of subject matter ... & the fact that everything is an object of her curiosity. She can turn her hand to macro, employing a wonderful depth of field on subjects including both nature & the random things that make up our world. She highlights the little details in life, bringing them to life & showing us the world around us in a light filled way (if that's even possible). There is no sadness in her work, so pause to wonder as to what may have occurred here just that split second between "pretty shiny over there" moments (or at least for me anyways). I can imagine all Shannon's photographs (literally) gracing my walls, giant canvas or row upon row of blocks forming one big work of art. & everything works together.

So i guess the word I've been looking for (deep in the midst of my pregnant brain) is nostalgia ...

yearning for a summer long past ...

... the sweet taste of cherries & your first love ...

... & the journey from here to there, somewhere excited & pretty & shiny & new!

As with every week you can purchase all the above images on etsy, & to check out more of Shannon's work head over to her flickr page & her blog. I hope everyone enjoying the new year filled with anticipation, excitement & many many wonderful days ahead!
